Many Leeds United fans were worried after what happened in the Fulham game. Daniel Farke’s men were not able to hold on to the result and lost in the last minute due to an unfortunate own goal.
There was a lot of talk about the defeat, including if the team was good enough, especially the attack. After failing to score a goal from open play this season, a lot of eyes were fixed on the Leeds attack. The trip to London made it three games where the Whites had failed to find the back of the net.
Daniel Farke had to find a way to fix the goalscoring problems. And to many people’s surprise, he stuck with the same front three he picked in the Fulham game.

It paid off, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor scored their first goals in Leeds colours. The former Everton man rose highest to head home from a deflected cross, and Noah Okafor latched on to a through ball from Anton Stach to score a lovely goal. Stach himself scored a brilliant free kick, with Leeds ending the first half with three goals.
The Athletic revealed that Daniel Farke had given his team two days off due to the major result – the players had Sunday and Monday off to rest.
The Leeds boss was in a good mood, but he was focused on the task at hand. He said that the team is determined to stay in the Premier League:
“This is what football does. It’s so important for us and for the mood.
“I’m glad we send them into a nice weekend, they should celebrate and dream a bit. We stay humble.
“Seven points is really good but it won’t be enough to stay in this league.
“We have to earn many more points to earn the right to be an established Premier League club.
“We’ll stay grounded. We’ll value the moment, the away win, it’s important. To be off the mark for some offensive players is quite good.”
The report included that the team cheered in unison in the away dressing room when the decision was made.
Tough game against Bournemouth next
Up next for Farke’s men is a tough home game against Bournemouth. Andoni Iraola’s team have not lost since the opening day of the season. However, Leeds will be confident, as their last two home games saw them beat Everton and hold Newcastle to a goalless draw.
