Darren Bent makes ‘big pressure’ prediction for ‘favourites’ Leeds United – Daniel Farke needs his players to walk the talk

Leeds United have won just one of their last five league games and have dropped to second in the Championship table. The Whites are threatening to implode in the automatic promotion race for the second season running, and their fans are on edge. Darren Bent has chipped in and talked about the pressure Leeds are under at this stage of the season.

Daniel Farke boldly claimed at the weekend that Leeds United will 100 percent play in the Premier League next season despite their recent poor form in the Championship.

The Leeds boss is trying to reenergise a Leeds squad who are looking jaded and wary as their grip loosens on the race to get automatic promotion to the Premier League.

There is a sense of doom and gloom around Elland Road, and pundits like Bent are piling on the pressure as Leeds continue to seek answers for their late-season malaise.

There is big pressure on Leeds United as everyone has made them the favourites – Darren Bent

Leeds are set to travel to Luton Town on Saturday and will be desperate to return to winning ways by earning all three points.

Bent stressed that Leeds have to find a way to beat Luton and conceded that out of the three teams racing for automatic promotion, the Whites have the easiest run-in on paper.

However, he feels Leeds are under pressure because of the favourites tag, and they will be in real trouble if they fail to get all three points at Luton.

“If you are Leeds and you are thinking what’s coming up next, surely you have got to beat Luton”, Bent said on talkSPORT.

“Middlesbrough will be tough, and then Preston.

“Out of them, Sheffield United and Burnley, their run-in is the easiest on paper.

“Leeds have got to correct this as there is big pressure, and a lot of people made them favourites.

“If they can’t beat Luton away from home, then they are really in [trouble].”

The players need to back Farke’s bold talk

The onus is on Farke to take those tough decisions this week on team selection, and put out an eleven out at Luton who would be prepared to scrap.

The Leeds boss needs to make a brave decision on the goalkeeper, and certain other players. However, the Leeds star also needs to step up to the plate.

They have been termed the best team in the division by everyone, but all that talk will mean nothing if Leeds do not get promoted to the Premier League.

Farke is exuding confidence on the outside, and now the players need to ensure that his words do not look silly at the end of the season.
