Since the start of the year, Leeds United have been able to put themselves in a comfortable position at the lower end of the Premier League table. It was only over a month ago that the Whites found themselves briefly in the relegation zone.
The team were in poor form, and Daniel Farke took the blame for everything with reports that he was going to be sacked. But Leeds have turned things around since then; the team have rediscovered themselves and are playing their best football yet. There is a very positive outlook for the rest of the season, especially after the Whites opened up a gap with the relegation zone.
The 49ers have also flexed their muscles this month, with other relegation rivals strengthening; adding Facundo Buonanotte, and on course to sign a new striker. With a bid sent for Wolves star Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Everton boss speaks on Leeds United star ahead of Monday night
Monday night’s game between Leeds United and Everton will give Dominic Calvert-Lewin his first chance to meet his former club since he left in the summer. He failed to make the matchday squad in the two sides’ first meeting at Elland Road. Ahead of the game, Toffees boss David Moyes has opened up about Calvert-Lewin and how the Merseyside club were not able to keep hold of the England striker:
“We look forward to seeing Dom (Calvert-Lewin).
“We just weren’t able to sort of make things work (to keep him)… but he’s certainly got his fitness back anyway and scoring goals.”
The 28-year old was with Everton for over a decade, coming through the youth ranks.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation
Leeds fans complained when the striker signed for them in the summer; and Calvert-Lewin himself admitted that he understood why parts of the fanbase had their concerns. The striker has had his ups and downs this season, but is now firmly the most important player at the club.
| Player | Goals | Games |
|---|---|---|
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 9 | 20 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 5 | 19 |
| Brenden Aaronson | 4 | 21 |
| Anton Stach | 3 | 19 |
His goals have propelled the Whites to huge results in recent weeks. When he was available in the summer, many clubs turned down the chance to sign him but now Leeds United look like geniuses for taking a chance on the player no one really wanted. Hopefully he can continue this form till the end of the season.
