Leeds United sit at the summit of the Championship table and are the hot favourites to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season. Despite the 1-1 draw at home against West Brom, the Whites are still expected to earn automatic promotion to the top flight. However, they still have eleven games remaining and the Championship’s unpredictability means the Whites cannot afford to rest on their laurels and get back to winning ways as soon as possible. Sheffield United are just three points behind them and Burnley could be five points behind them if the Clarets win at Cardiff City tonight. However, David Prutton has claimed there is one more side they need to be worried about.
The Yorkshire giants have been tipped to win the Championship on a canter and get back to the Premier League at the end of the ongoing season.
However, the 1-1 draw against West Brom showed that unpredictable results are the only thing that can be predicted when it comes to the Championship.
Leeds have another big game on Sunday when they will travel to Portsmouth who were moments away from beating them at Elland Road at the start of the season in August.
Sheffield United and Burnley are hopeful that Leeds drop more points this weekend. Not everyone is confident about the Whites getting a win at Fratton Park.
However, Prutton insisted that Sheffield United and Burnley are not the only sides that Leeds should be worried about in their quest for promotion.
‘Still in the running for the top two spots’ – Former Leeds United star picks Sunderland

Sunderland’s defeat at Leeds was damaging and another loss at home against Hull City seemed they were done for in terms of getting into the automatic promotion spots.
However, they fought back with a win at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend and Prutton feels the Black Cats are still in the race to finish in the top two spots.
He indicated that Leeds are amongst the teams who could still be moved from the top two spots and Sunderland can replace them in the automatic promotion spots.
“They’ve shown character, last time out against Sheffield Wednesday, and are still in keeping and in running with the top-two places”, Prutton told the Football League World.
“It’s just those two potentially movable objects in Burnley, Sheffield United and Leeds in front of them and no doubt Wilson Isidor is a key part of that.”
Sunderland are hanging on and have the legs to last the season
The 1-1 draw against West Brom showed that Leeds could still be stopped by teams who are willing to work hard and defend resolutely this season.
Leeds will face more such resolute teams at the business end of the season as most of the team will be looking for points for different reasons.
On Sunday, Portsmouth need the points to move a bit more away from the relegation zone and further secure their spot in the Championship for next season.
Can you name these 10 Leeds United players from the 2000s?
Sunderland seem far away from Leeds at this moment, but two results could change the complexion of the season for either of the two sides in the coming weeks.
Regis Le Bris’ side are also young and will have a bit more freshness in their legs towards the end of the season when physical and mental fatigue could set in for more experienced sides.
Leeds are still the favourites and a win on Sunday will calm the nerves for everyone, but it could get interesting if a couple of results go wrong.
