Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller has claimed that the club are already working on a deal to sign Rasmus Kristensen on a permanent contract from Leeds United.
Kristensen joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan from Leeds in the summer transfer window after spending last season on loan in Italy with Roma.
The 27-year-old defender has been an integral part of the Eintracht Frankfurt team since joining the club and has started the opening four Bundesliga games.
His performances have impressed the Eintracht hierarchy and the club are keen to turn his loan into a permanent deal in the coming months.
The German club have an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €13m but Eintracht do not want to pay that figure at the moment.
Eintracht are keen to renegotiate the fee but the club are definitely interested in signing the Danish defender on a permanent deal in the future.
Sporting director ‘already working’ on a deal for Rasmus Kristensen
The German club are in the process of firming up their plans and Kristensen is very much part of their thinking moving forward.
Toppmoller claimed that Eintracht sporting director Markus Krosche is already working behind the scenes to sign a permanent deal with the Leeds defender.
The Eintracht head coach stressed that the club management are aware of Kristensen’s importance to the team and the way he has ‘fought’ for the side since joining the club.
“Markus Krosche has already recognised that“, Toppmoller was quoted as saying by Fussball.News.
“He is already working on it and does not need my expertise.
“He also sees that Rasmus is a very important factor for us. Despite stomach problems, he fought through and played very solidly.
“With his energy and power, Rasmus is very important for us.”
Kristensen has a contract until 2026 with Leeds but he is unlikely to play again for the Whites given Eintracht’s interest in a permanent deal.
