”Definitely not a must win” – Daniel Farke downplays magnitude of Burnley game

The international break is over and Leeds United boss Daniel Farke will be glad none of his players returned with serious injuries. There were mixed performances from some first team stars, but some showed that they are ready to fight for their place at club level.

The next game for the Whites is against Burnley this weekend – Daniel Farke does not have a good record against the Clarets. Last season in the Championship, Leeds failed to win in their two games against Scott Parker’s side. But the Clarets could be missing Lyle Foster, who picked up an injury during the international break.

Leeds players meanwhile, had over a week to rest and recharge – players like Jack Harrison and Noah Okafor trained with personal trainers to keep their sharpness.

In Thursday’s press conference ahead of this weekend, Daniel Farke made a strange claim. According to him, the game against Burnley is not a ”must win” as he treats every Premier League game as the same.

“Big games always on Premier League, we have to prepare for every game otherwise no chance on Premier League level, definitely not a must win, it’s an away game and you are always the underdog if it’s an away game.” quotes via YEP.

“Both games last season against them were difficult so why should it be any different? We want to be competitive.”

Leeds currently sit in 15th place in the league, with eight points from seven games. Fans will be frustrated that they only got one point from a possible six from the Bournemouth and Spurs matches.

Leeds United need to get off to a good start after international break

When the Whites returned from the last international break, they started with a loss to Fulham. And even though they did adjust, they cannot afford a repeat at this point in time. Burnley are there for the taking this season – Scott Parker’s side have four points and only one win all season.

Leeds United should have the quality and the personnel to get all three points on Saturday.
