It was a proud moment last night for young duo Joe Gelhardt and Stuart McKinstry as they made their Leeds United debuts at 19 years of age.
Both of them smashed home their penalties in the shootout that led to Leeds progressing into the next round of the cup, but Leeds fans were very keen to see Gelhardt finally e given a chance with the first team following his incredible form for the under 23s.
Phew! That was so tense. We won a penalty shoot out in London! Cresswell was immense. Some nice touches from Summerville. So great to see Gelhardt & McKinstry make their debuts. @LUFC #MOT #ALAW

‘So great to see Gelhardt & McKinstry make their debuts.’ One fan posted, whilst another took a shot at Tyler Roberts by saying ‘I think Gelhardt might be a hair’s breath away from displacing Roberts.’ While it may be true that Roberts hasn’t been performing well as of late, Gelhardt is still only 19 years old and has plenty of time to go before he will be recognised as a first team player.
I think Gelhardt might be a hair’s breadth away from displacing Roberts. #LUFC

Leeds have a very exciting future, with youngsters Cysencio Summerville and Charlie Cresswell also performing well against Fulham.
