Leeds progressed to the next round of the Carabao Cup last night as they beat Fulham 6-5 on penalties. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows however, as Leeds fans were once again left unimpressed by Tyler Roberts.
Roberts hasn’t been great for Leeds since they earned promotion to the Premier League. The Welshman netted just one goal from 27 appearances last season, and is also yet to put in a solid display this campaign.
Roberts wasn’t able to make an impact in the previous round against Crewe and was once again unable to make the difference last night against Fulham. Fans are starting to lose patience with Roberts, as one fan commented ‘I’m afraid Roberts just doesn’t cut it for me.’
Another fan posted ‘I need someone to sit me down and explain why Tyler Roberts is starting over Gelhardt cos I just don’t understand it.’ Roberts is still relatively young but nobody seems to even recognise what his best position is.
He needs to start showing that he is good enough for the Premier League, otherwise he risks being left behind.
He has time to develop Perhaps a spell out on loan at a League 1 or Championship Club could benefit him
