Dominic Calvert-Lewin heaps praise on £25m Leeds United ace – ‘he’s flying..’

Leeds United found it tricky settling into the Premier League at the start of the season. But as the campaign went on, Daniel Farke was tinkering to find the best version of the team.

In December, with the pressure on the team after they slipped into the relegation zone, the Leeds boss had to come up with something. After the loss to Manchester City, Farke decided to stick with the 3-5-2 shape he used in the second half.

Since Leeds changed their tactics, they have gone on an impressive run, losing just two games in their last nine. They have also recorded impressive victories against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Leeds United star praises Brenden Aaronson for recent form

The new shape has brought out the best of some players in the team, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Brenden Aaronson. The former Everton striker has spoken well about Aaronson and their partnership up top:

“Just getting that rapport with the players around me, and the more we’ve played together, Brenden Aaronson, who’s flying at the moment, he’s started to pick up the way I like to play and vice versa.

“It’s something that comes naturally to me as well. As I’ve got older, I’ve started to realise more what I am good at. ‘If I’m good at this, keep doing it.”

Midfielder has been very important this season

At the start of this campaign, Brenden Aaronson admitted that he did not even know if he was in the plans for this season. Daniel Farke tried him in a different position in pre-season, but many fans expected the midfielder to depart in the summer. The Leeds boss kept him around for this Premier League season.

Since the Whites had moved away from the 4-2-3-1 system in the Championship, Brenden Aaronson was not a guaranteed starter in the number 10 role. But Farke tried him out wide, where he had limited success. When Leeds shifted to the 3-5-2, the American international was used in central areas, where his ball carrying helps the team. The 25-year old has been thriving playing up top closer to the strikers; and Aaronson himself has found himself in promising positions where he has been productive – scoring four league goals this season. Fans will be hoping he can keep this form up for the rest of the campaign.
