Dominic Calvert-Lewin slammed for ”attitude” problems at Leeds United after eight weeks

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was signed this summer as Leeds United needed quality in the striking position. Daniel Farke had complained about the lack of options up top in the summer before the England striker arrived.

Fans were frustrated that more money was not spent on the attack, as around £100million was splashed in this transfer window. Most of it was invested in defenders and midfielders.

It seems to have paid off as the Whites have had a positive start to the season. Daniel Farke’s side are in 15th place in the league heading into the October international break. But it could have been better if the team were able to convert their chances in the last few games.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal for the club against Wolves, making the Leeds fans believed he could be the solution this season. But the former Everton man has been goalless since, which has drawn a lot of criticism for the fans. He missed clear cut chances in back to back games against Bournemouth and Spurs, that the Whites could have taken three points.

Ex-Premier League scout Bryan King has spoken out against Calvert-Lewin, saying that the striker does not have the attitude to fit Leeds United.

“I’m not sure he (Calvert-Lewin) is the right striker for Leeds,” he told MOT Leeds News.

“That’s a very difficult place to play, you’ve got to hit the ground running there because they’re a very telling crowd at Elland Road.

“I don’t think he’s fulfilled his talent yet. I think there’s still more to come from him. There are times when I think his attitude is all wrong. I’d like to see him get back to scoring goals, but he’s got to have the service as well.

“He’s capable of doing it, but again with him it’s his attitude.”

Leeds United star must step up

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has lead the line well in the last few games, but the lack of goals is glaring. He keeps on getting on the end of chances, but missed huge ones. Failure to convert in the last few games has seen Leeds get one point instead of four from their last two games. Daniel Farke has to get the former Everton man ont he right track soon.
