Leeds United boss Daniel Farke finally got his wish during the week. The club confirmed their eighth summer signing; former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The deal came about as a real surprise, as Leeds had been pursuing Rodrigo Muniz earlier. But it seemed like a hitch in the process forced the club to change targets. Many reports say that Elland Road was not the preferred destination for Calvert-Lewin, and that the striker was not high on Leed’s shortlist.
Nonetheless, Daniel Farke was very pleased with the signing, saying that the attack now has a ”proven” Premier League player.
”Dominic is a proven Premier League player. Its important for all new signings, we want to sign players who have delivered on a top level, but they are also in a good age, on their way up the hill, not the way down. These boxes are all ticked by Dominic. He’s in a really good age, proven at Premier League level with more than 200 games and 60 goals. In 11 appearances for the England team, scored four goals. We don’t have to speak about his qualities. He has all the skills you’d like your striker to have.”
