Done deal: Leeds sign Georginio Rutter for club record transfer fee

Leeds United have completed the signing of Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter for a club record transfer fee, the club have announced

After completing his medical over the last couple of days, the 20-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year long deal at Elland Road lasting until the summer of 2028.

Rutter signs for the Whites for a fee rising to €40m (£36m), a figure surpassing the previous club record transfer of €32.84m to secure the services of Brenden Aaronson from RB Salzburg last summer.

The Frenchman made 64 appearances total for the Bundesliga club, netting 11 times. He has four goal involvements to his name so far this season (2 goals, 2 assists).

He becomes Leeds’ second signing of the January transfer window after the arrival of Max Wober from RB Salzburg last week.

Rutter is ineligible to start Wednesday night’s clash against Cardiff in the FA Cup but may make his Premier League debut when the Whites welcome Brentford to Elland Road on Sunday [22 January].
