Door now open for Daniel Farke to complete £17M deal – Leeds United could sign quality midfielder

Daniel Farke has been in charge at Leeds United for the past two seasons. He was brought in to guide the Whites back to the Premier League after they were relegated in 2023.

Two years down the line, the German coach has achieved exactly what he has been hired for. Farke could have been promoted last season, but his team fell in the Championship playoff final.

The Leeds boss has done a great job, but one thing that fans will remember from his time in charge is how transfers have been done at the club. Farke has been vocal over signings in almost every window. He has gotten his wishes sometimes, bringing in Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon just this summer.

Leeds United could go back for major target

But other times, his targets do not make the move. Leeds infamously tried to sign Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United before the season began. But the Blades rejected any bids, with Chris Wilder publicly mocking the approaches.

During the winter transfer window, Leeds were linked with a move for Emi Buendia. The Aston Villa midfielder was seeking a move after losing his place in the first team. But the Argentine eventually joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan. After 10 appearances and just three league starts, it looks like the 28-year old will return to England.

This presents Daniel Farke with the perfect chance to sign the player this summer. Buendia had a £17million buy option in his loan deal at Leverkusen, which is around the fee that Aston Villa may ask for.

Buendia could be a starter in the Premier League

Brenden Aaronson has had a productive season, but his overall performance this campaign has been questionable. There will be questions surrounding his place in the team in the Premier League.

Buendia’s last active campaign in the league saw him score five goals and provide two assists in a decent Aston Villa side. Leeds should explore a move for the attacking midfielder.

This kid is mutton dressed as lamb. He knocked us back twice so he holds no value in the shirt. Villa got shot. He can rarely get on the pitch at Leverkusen and they want to get shot. Why is that?. He’s not Leeds. He would have no idea of what side before self actually meant. Pass on this one for me
