Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is expecting Leeds to give the Magpies a difficult fixture on Saturday.
Newcastle come into this weekend on the back of a six-game winning streak, after impressively beating Leicester on Monday. Leeds are off the back of a 3-1 loss to league holders Manchester City at Elland Road.
The Magpies boss is wary of the threat Leeds can pose, and expects them to put up a fight on New Year’s Eve:
“It will be a difficult game. They’re a good team, lots of spirit and collective mentality. They’ll be supported well so we need to involve our crowd early in the game.
“From a physical perspective, it will be two teams that give their all. I’ve watched a lot of Leeds in preparation for this game and I’ve been impressed by them. We anticipate a very fast paced game between two good teams.”
The Magpies sit in 3rd place in the league table, while Leeds are at the bottom half in 15th place.
