Despite being just 18 years of age, Eduardo Camavinga has been one of Ligue 1’s stars over recent seasons. This campaign the Stade Rennais centre-mid has made 24 league appearances for the French side. The youngster is without a doubt their talisman but a move away looks likely.
When a youngster of such talent bursts onto the scene, the big clubs all inevitably begin to loom especially when they make an impression in the Champions League. And Camavinga is no different. French football’s next great star, perhaps the next Zinedine Zidane, has made four appearances in European competition this term and has even grabbed the odd assist no doubt impressing the biggest clubs on the planet.
To be such a settled first teamer at such a young age, you’re on the road to being a class act and that’s why so many clubs are now pursuing the dynamic centre-mid. Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are at the forefront. Oddschecker has the Spanish Champions as 4/1 favourites to secure a deal for Camavinga. Meanwhile, French Champions PSG are 6/1 despite being the dominant club in Camavinga’s country. They also have history of signing young French talents from rivals such as Kylian Mbappe.
Barcelona – another European giant – are also fancied at 7/1.
English giants Manchester United and Liverpool are both in the race standing at 5/1 and 12/1 respectively. Even Chelsea are fancied to make a move for the midfielder. Oddschecker has them at 9/1. But curiously, Leeds are also in the running. Despite the fact the midfielder is rated at £54 million a move to Elland Road would suit his needs the most. Unlike the others, Leeds would offer guaranteed game time and the chance to work under a superb manager with a scintillating style of play. Meanwhile, it would offer a chance to play in a brilliant league testing himself against the very best week in week out. Moreover, Leeds are a big club despite their troubles in recent history. So, joining United could also scratch his itch to play for a big team without having to sacrifice game time.
Even if he does make the leap to one of Europe’s top teams, perhaps a loan move for the youngster could be considered offering the game time and development he’d need.
