England star ready to quit club over move to Leeds United – keen to play in the Premier League next season

With the transfer window fast approaching, there are some questions about the Leeds United squad that need to be answered. Daniel Farke and the recruitment team have a long summer ahead.

Fortunately, the club will have funds available. Club chairman Paraag Marathe vowed to fans that he will help maintain their top flight status, and spend ‘whatever possible’. It has been revealed this week that Leeds will have around £150million to spend, outside player sales.

Going into the summer window, there are some glaring issues that need to be discussed. Recently, reports from inside Elland Road claimed that Joel Piroe is not good enough to be the starting striker in the Premier League. Thus the club is actively looking for options – with Jamie Vardy heavily linked.

The goalkeeping position still remains a mystery. With every day going by, Illan Meslier grows closer to leaving the club.

This means, Leeds will be after a first choice stopper when the window opens. The Whites have reportedly placed Chelsea star Djordje Petrovic high on their shortlist. The Serbian has been making waves this season, and will draw a lot of interest this summer.

The Whites were linked with Wolves stopper Sam Johnstone early last month, and now a huge development has been reported this week. According to Football Insider, the England keeper is ready to force a move to Elland Road this summer. Johnstone is unhappy with his playing time this season, and sees Leeds as the best destination to become a starter.

Wolves’ stance on a move for Johnstone is unknown, but expect the West Midlands club to recoup the £10million fee they paid last summer.

Sam Johnstone is what Leeds need

Johnstone is hungry to prove himself once again. The move to Wolves only hurt his career; he was on a bright trajectory before. The 32-year old had been an England regular, but with the 2026 World Cup around the corner, he could lose his place. There is nowhere better to recover his form than with Leeds United next season.

Do not need J Vardy, there is too much baggage off the pitch and he is past it.
