English club could make decision on Leeds star in coming weeks as value soars

Joe Gelhardt Leeds United

Leeds United were very busy in the summer transfer window bringing 10 new faces to Elland Road. But as the season has progressed, it looks like not all the deals have paid off so far.

Some of the new arrivals have hit the ground running, while others still need time to adapt to English football. And some Leeds players have barely gotten playing time due to poor decision making when it comes to the squad.

The Whites spent a lot but did not make many sales in the summer. Diogo Monteiro and Sam Greenwood were the two ‘major’ moves when it came to permanent transfers. Daniel Farke did however allow a handful of first team players to leave the club on temporary deals including Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt, Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani.

Leeds United man Joe Gelhardt could force Hull City to move in January

Leeds loanee Joe Gelhardt is currently one of the best players in the Championship this season. In the summer, he chose to join Hull City after being with them in the second half of last season on loan. The 23-year old has been in impressive form this campaign, which has lead to rumours that the Tigers could sign him on a permanent deal soon.

With January around the corner, it could present the last chance the club get to have a free run to sign Gelhardt. If the season ends, and the forward has an even more impressive campaign, it would spark a race for his signature with many teams in the division interested.

Leeds set to benefit as forward’s value soars

Not only has the Leeds loanee been one of the standout players for Hull City, he has been one of the best players in the Championship this season. And his value will continue to increase as the season goes on. So if the Tigers want to tie him down permanently, they need to do it before the summer window, where Leeds will have a massive advantage when it comes to negotiations.

Gelhardt’s contract expires in 2027, and it is unlikely he renews, so the Whites will be looking for a decent fee to let him go.
