Europa League club chase Leeds United star – Major exit tipped from Elland Road this summer

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke is a coach who likes to stick with what works. Throughout this season he has shown his willingness to stick with the same players if results were not going his way.

Fans have complained this season about Brenden Aaronson and Joel Piroe. But Farke has backed the duo, among some other players in the team. The downside to using a fixed set of players has been that some will inevitably be on the bench. Lack of playing time is the reason Joe Gelhardt pushed for a move in January. The forward is now close to a move to Hull City.

Gelhardt was not alone, as many of Leeds’ attackers had to spend time on the bench over various points of the season. Largie Ramazani, a big money signing, has started just seven games this season.

Mateo Joseph has been on the short end of the stick too. Despite showing promise going into this season, he has not played as much as expected. Recent reports have linked the forward with a move to Real Betis, who have been monitoring the player since January. Leeds are understood to want around £12million for the player.

Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has backed Joseph to leave Leeds for more playing time:

“He has obviously been limited in the timescale of getting minutes on the pitch, but when he has played, he hasn’t quite delivered goals, which is what he is in the team for,” Hendrie said, speaking to FLW.

“I think sometimes you need a real good run in a side to prove your weight in gold, and I know that he is certainly a talent, for sure, but yes, I do feel that, is he going to play much in the Premier League? I don’t think he will do.

“It wouldn’t hurt him to go out and have a fresh start, even if it is somewhere until January, when the window shuts.”

Mateo Joseph should consider future away from Elland Road

This season, the 21-year old has made 11 starts in the Championship. Joseph has played just 1,284 minutes this season, which is among the lowest out of all 29 players to have made an appearance this season. After breaking into the Spain U21 side, he needs a consistent run of games at club level if he is to reach the senior national team. It would be in his best interest to seek a move away, and given his value, Leeds could also benefit from a sale.
