European finalists to schedule talks with Leeds United star – club to push for deal this summer

Leeds United managed to score 95 goals in the Championship this season. The Whites also won promotion, and hit the 100-point mark. But in recent years, this has not been enough.

Newly promoted teams often struggle when they reach the top flight, usually due to the lack of quality. Almost every team in the league has the funds to build a very good squad.

Out of the 95 goals Daniel Farke’s side scored, just three players in the team hit double figures in the Championship. Joel Piroe led the pack with 19 goals, while Dan James and Manor Solomon had 12 goals and 10 goals respectively.

The club’s back up strikers, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford, combined to score just three goals in total.

Joseph and Bamford featured in a total of 56 games and only found the back of the net thrice. Leeds look to be in the market for a new striker this summer. This has raised alarms that one of the current backups is set to leave.

Bamford has attracted some interest from Wrexham recently. Joseph on the other hand, has been linked with a move to Spain.

Real Betis were in for the forward in January, but a move never materialized. A new development has now been revealed. Mundo Deportivo report that Betis will hold talks with the 21-year old this summer. The Conference League finalists are keen on signing the U21 international.

It is believed that Leeds would consider a £12million fee for the player.

Betis move could entice Joseph

Mateo Joseph has shown a lot of promise, and three goals and three assists. But his game time has been awfully limited this season. He is stuck behind Joel Piroe in the pecking order.

If Betis are able to convince him to move, he could jump at the chance. Playing more minutes in a team playing a European final soon would be good enough to seal the deal.
