European side make ‘contact’ with Leeds United star – club will now have to make a decision

Leeds United ended their season on a high by lifting the Championship on the final day. 100 points, 95 goals and the league title a year after being bounced in the play off final is an incredible achievement.

Even more incredible is how Daniel Farke achieved this feat after losing three of the best players in the league last season. Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville won the EFL Championship Young player of the year, and EFL Championship Player of the year respectively. Georginio Rutter also recorded 16 assists.

This summer is make or break for the recruitment team at Leeds United. They have the unenviable task of building a team to survive the Premier League next season. Fans will be hoping the club are able to repeat the 2020 summer transfer window, where the club managed to sign Raphinha and Rodrigo Moreno.

One thing that is certain is that the club will have funds to spend this summer. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has vowed to fans that he will do his best to help the club maintain their top flight status. Daniel Farke is expected to be backed with a £150million transfer war chest.

Some players are expected to leave at the end of the season. Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon will return to their parent clubs after their loan. And Sam Byram, Josuha Guilavogui and Junior Firpo could all leave when their contracts expire.

Mateo Joseph is an unexpected name that has popped up recently. Sources from Spain claimed that Real Betis will be back for the forward in the summer, after they failed to sign him in January. Now, Marcos Benito is reporting that the La Liga side have made ‘first contact’ with Joseph’s camp over a move.

The report claims that Betis are keen on adding the Spain-U21 international to their team next season.

Leeds should consider Joseph deal

With Leeds heading into the Premier League, they should consider a Mateo Joseph sale. He cost close to £1million when he was signed from Spain, and if the reports are to be believed, Betis could pay £12.75million for him.

He made 20 appearances and did not start a game this season. And with arrivals expected this summer, his playing time would go down much further. A move away would be the best option for all parties.
