Leeds United will be pleased after the club completed their second summer signing on Monday. The club have now added former Udinese man Jaka Bijol to the backline.
A move to bolster the defence has been expected, as the club look set to lose a few first team stars at the end of the month. Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are yet to sign new contracts, while Max Wober has revealed he has been told to find a new club this summer.
Bijol’s signing adds another body in the heart of defence, alongside Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon.

Even though center forward and center back have added depth, there are some key areas in the team that look rather thin. Especially at fullback. There are currently two first team options at the position – Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt. No one knows that status of Byram or Firpo, but many are already anticipating departures.
Teamtalk are reporting that the Whites are keen on signing Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson. Leeds have had the player on their shortlist this summer and could make a move soon. The left back has one year left on his current deal, with his club putting an £8million price tag on him. Everton are also said to be in the mix for the 27-year old.
No official move or approach has been made for the Swedish international yet, but he remains on the radar.
Gudmundsson could fill Junior Firpo’s role
Leeds will be very unlucky to lose the dynamism and attacking threat Firpo provided on the left flank. Gundmundsson is a decent player, but his output cannot match what Firpo produces.

The Lille defender offers width and dynamism, and can hurt defences with his passing. His ability to carry the ball up the pitch has also been crucial for the French club.
