The failure to get promoted last season has been disastrous to Leeds United’s plans. Big exits such as Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United and Archie Gray to Tottenham have been inevitable. Another exit in the form of Summerville’s replacement might be on the cards for Leeds as Wilfried Gnonto looks desperate to move out.
One of the biggest suitors for the Italian winger has been Everton. The Liverpool-based club had also shown interest in the winger last season in August 2023. The 49ers rejected the offer convincing the Italian to stay at Elland Road. Earlier this July, Everton again displayed genuine interest in Gnonto as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
“Everton have genuine interest in Willy Gnonto as talks took place with playerās camp recently. Negotiations underway to understand deal conditions, as @ElBobble reports. Gnontoās keen on the move.”

Days later Everton Gaffer Sean Dyche made interesting statements following a busy transfer window for The Toffees.
“We are doing our best with the finance available to construct what we hope is a side that can keep growing and adding some of these players shows a sign of that.”
āBut it is a squad we want to keep growing and while it is stretched at the minute, as they come together, they are all going to be part of that. I donāt think with the finances that we have got, or havenāt, as the case may be. But we will have to wait and see.”

In an interview with media outlet Liverpool Echo, Dyche hinted at an almost-done transfer window for Everton. He also talked about their new signings but clearly stated that there probably won’t be any more transfers for The Toffees. This makes a suitor down for Gnonto as Everton were the front-runners to sign the winger.
Italian interest continues for Wilfried Gnonto
It is not all rainbows and sunshine for Leeds United though. Although a big club might be out of the race for Wilfried Gnonto, other clubs are interested in getting the winger back home. As reported earlier, Serie A clubs Parma, Geneo and Venezia are keen on getting their hands on Gnonto.
Sources from Italy claim that Gnonto himself wants to leave and would like to play in Serie A. This challenge will prove to be detrimental for Leeds United as it might decide the route Leeds take this summer transfer window.
