Everton set to face huge problem ahead of Leeds United Premier League opener

After two years, Leeds United fans will get to experience Premier League football once again. This time around, there is hope that it will be far better than their last campaign.

The anticipation heading into this season is immense, especially after how the club ended last year. Leeds won the Championship on the final day of the season thanks to a goal from Manor Solomon. It was a very impressive feat for Daniel Farke, who had lost three of his best players the summer before. Leeds still ended the campaign with a 100 points, and 95 goals scored.

The Premier League on its own is a whole different animal. Year after year, the gap between newly promoted sides and the rest of the league continues to grow. The past two seasons have seen all the new clubs go straight back down to the Championship.

QUIZ: Can you name the Leeds game these 10 goal celebrations are from?

Leeds have spent way less than £100million this summer, but have managed to add seven quality players to the team. Most of these players were regulars at top clubs across the Europe.

Daniel Farke and the recruitment team decided to take a unique path, targeting players with height and physical attributes. According to the Leeds boss, this is to help the team match Premier League opposition.

Everton face major issues

The Whites kick off their Premier League campaign at home to David Moyes’ side. Many see this as a great opportunity for Leeds to star the season right. And with the latest news from Merseyside, Leeds could have a massive advantage before the game.

Everton boss David Moyes publicly expressed his frustration with the club’s transfer business this summer.

“The truth is, we are not getting them over the line at the moment, so that’s a fact. We’re not getting a lot of the deals done that we were hoping to do.” he said, speaking to The Athletic.

“We’re continually reassessing and moving on if things are not coming to fruition. We want to challenge ourselves to get good players if that is possible, and we’re trying to do that but we’re finding it quite difficult.”

Completing business early is a real boost

In a competition like the Premier League, pre season is very important. It gives clubs and coaches the chance to see how their team on paper actually fares on the pitch. So completing many of your signings before you engage in friendlies is really of huge help.

Thankfully Leeds have done their recruitment smartly, and this could hand them a serious advantage.
