The last time Leeds United failed to win promotion to the Premier League, it came with some consequences. That play-off final loss to Southampton in 2024 set off a chain of events.
There were a lot of departures in that window because the team did not get top flight football.
Leeds were powerless to stop many of their star players from making the jump to the Premier League. Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were all snapped up quickly.
All three managed to join Premier League sides.

Former Leeds United man open to summer move
In Leeds United’s first season back in the top flight, they managed to avoid relegation, finishing in 14th place.
Their season was long and full of twists and turns, but their crucial turning point was in the middle of the campaign. Farke turned things around and the team changed their fortunes.
They lost to West Ham on the final day of the season, but it was not enough for the Hammers to stay up.
Now, Crysencio Summerville is set to leave the London club, as they will need to cash in on their assets this summer. Leeds considered a move for the winger, but never proceeded.
And after a brilliant World Cup campaign, Summerville has teams lined up for him.
Manchester United showed serious interest in the winger, but it looks like he is headed elsewhere. The former Leeds star has interest from across Europe as well as Saudi Arabia.
Sky News reported that AS Roma had bid £38 million for the winger on Friday. Journalist Matteo Moretto is now reporting that the 24-year old is open to a move this summer.

Leeds need to wrap up their transfer business quickly
AS Roma are pushing to seal this deal soon, something big clubs do not waste time on is with transfers.
Leeds on the other hand, have been locked in talks with Southampton for a while now. The midfielder returned to the Saints for pre-season training this week, with reports that the talks are not close to being completed.
Graham Smyth has pointed out that the Whites will be patient with this deal.
Southampton obviously have their valuation of the player and want that amount. But there is only so much they can demand with Charles in the last 12 months of his deal.
The 49ers either need to pay the amount or just walk away from the deal.
