Ex-Leeds United star worried about key aspect of win over Cardiff City

Former Leeds United defender Jon Newsome has insisted that the Whites’ failure to convert their chances remains a worry despite the win over Cardiff City on Saturday.

Leeds got back to winning ways on Saturday when they beat Cardiff City 2-0 away from home and moved back up to sixth in the Championship table.

Largie Ramazani scored his first goal for the club in the 30th minute and Joel Piroe confirmed the points when he produced a sublime finish in the dying minutes of the game.

The 2-0 win helped Leeds to bounce back from a home defeat against Burnley in their previous game and they are back in the playoff spots after six league games.

Leeds dominated the ball with 80 percent of the possession and had seven shots on target while missing several good chances during the game.

Newsome is still worried about Leeds’ chance conversion despite the team getting back to winning ways away from home over the weekend.

Leeds United won’t face teams like Cardiff City every week

Newsome is still concerned that Leeds are not taking their chances despite creating several opportunities during the game against Cardiff City.

He warned the Leeds players that they are not going face teams as poor as Cardiff City every week and indicated that they could pay for not making the most of the opportunities they are creating against another side.

“It is something we need to get better at”, Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“Our conversion rate has to be better because they are all not going to be as easy as Cardiff were today.

“I don’t want to reiterate but Cardiff were poor; down to ten men and there was a real opportunity and we created a number of chances.

“We can’t go week after week creating lots of chances and not converting.”

Leeds will be back at home next Saturday when they will host Coventry City at Elland Road.
