Ex-Manchester United defender’s return boosts Luton ahead of Leeds United clash – Leeds are still a far better team

Leeds United have won just one of their last five league games, and are under tremendous pressure ahead of visiting Kenilworth Road on Saturday. Anything less than a win at Luton Town could open the floodgates of criticism towards the team, who have struggled over the last few weeks. And in a boost for Luton, they could have a big player back in the squad this weekend.

Daniel Farke, who has agreed to make a major change to his team, and his Leeds players are undertaking their final preparations ahead of taking the trip to Luton tomorrow for a massive game in the Championship.

Leeds have wasted an advantageous position by winning just one of their last five games, and are now trying to cling on to one of the two automatic promotion spots.

They are set to face a Luton team, who are fighting for their lives in the Championship, but have momentum on their side after winning three of their last six games.

And ahead of the Leeds fixture, they have received a massive boost in the form of a big player returning from injury.

Ex-Manchester United defender could be in the squad to take on Leeds United

Winger Isaiah Jones will return to the squad for the Leeds game, but Luton boss Matt Bloomfield revealed that defender Teden Mengi has been back in training as well.

Mengi has been missing since November when he picked up a serious knee injury, which required surgery.

The centre-back has been training with the squad all week, and the Luton boss admitted that he could be in the squad to face Leeds at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

“Teden has been in training all week with the group, which is fantastic”, Bloomfield was quoted as saying by Luton Today.

“He’s another big player for our football club that we’re welcoming back, and we’re looking forward to having him back in the fold. Possibly [he will be included], possibly not.

“We’ve got to be really careful with Teden that we look after him. It’s been four months, so we have to make sure that he’s ready.”

Leeds just need to focus on being better than last weekend

While Mengi’s potential return will boost Leeds, the Whites can afford to ignore what’s happening in the opposition team at this stage.

Leeds are better than Luton, and the players must believe that they can get the better of a side they have already beaten twice this season.

The Luton defender is unlikely to start against Leeds, and the Whites are not expected to get any surprises when the team sheets come out an hour before the kick-off on Saturday.

Farke’s men must assert themselves at Kenilworth Road and put down a marker for their promotion rivals with a dominating performance against an in-form side.
