Fabrizio Romano confirms £28m deal as Leeds United turn focus to another key position

Leeds United head into the January transfer window with a more defined plan, placing greater emphasis on strengthening their attacking options as they look to reinforce their bid for Premier League survival.

The Whites have already moved to boost their forward line, bringing in Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton after he turned down an identical move last summer.

The drive for additional attacking reinforcements has been sharpened by recent tactical adjustments. A shift to a 5-3-2 formation has increased the importance of a reliable goalscorer, while a lack of depth in advanced areas has further highlighted the need to add more quality up front.

Buonanotte’s arrival has clarified a few situations at Leeds, and the club are now focusing on a specific position while some of their other targets seem to be on the move.

Fabrizio Romano confirms deal for Leeds United target

Leeds made contact with Napoli winger Noa Lang earlier in the transfer window when they were looking to add more creative depth to their squad.

The Dutchman emerged as one of the targets for Leeds. However, the focus has shifted since they signed Buonanotte on a loan deal until the end of the season.

However, Lang is still set to leave Napoli as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a deal is in place between the Serie A giants and Galatasaray for his move.

The Turkish outfit have agreed on a deal to sign him on loan with an option to buy. If Galatasaray end up buying him, the deal would cost them close to £28m.

Galatasaray have also offered a lucrative contract to the winger, who will be earning more money in Turkey than in Italy once the deal is finalised.

Leeds have other priorities in the market, and Buonanotte’s arrival has lessened the need for another attacking midfielder or winger.

The Whites would love to sign a striker

Leeds’ focus is now on adding a striker to their squad before the end of the transfer window. However, it is not going to be a straightforward operation.

They have done nothing to play down their interest in Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. In fact, insiders claim that the club believe they can sign him.

Goals 14
Assists 4

However, any move for the Norwegian is likely tied to Leeds’ ability to move Joel Piroe on in the winter transfer window.

The Dutch forward has turned down offers from the Championship, and Leeds have rejected an approach from Celtic.

Leeds have two priorities to sort out in the final weeks of the window – find a club for Piroe and try to take a deal over the line for Strand Larasen.

The 49s are not seriously planning to buy and new players. Lots of deliberately leaked flase claims of being in talks etc, but let’s face it any club can make an enquiry without the genuine intention to pursue it. Farke needs 2 more players because the existing squad will get injuries, suspensions, or fatigue. This is the time to bring in the difference that will keep us up.
