Fabrizio Romano confirms worrying Jorgen Strand Larsen update for Leeds United

Leeds United remain active in the January transfer window with only a week to go before the deadline, as they look to add further reinforcements to their squad.

Operating under strict financial constraints, the Whites have already bolstered their attacking options by bringing in Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton after he turned down the same move last summer.

Leeds are also weighing up striker options and are believed to be pressing ahead with a move for Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, which could yet become a club-record signing this winter.

The forward is said to be keen on a move to Leeds. However, Fabrizio Romano has provided a new update, which is not good if you are a Whites supporter.

Fabrizio Romano confirms improved Crystal Palace offer for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolves rejected an opening offer from Leeds, but the Whites have continued to remain in talks with the striker and the club over a potential deal.

It would have to be a club-record deal, and the Whites have been growing confident of securing a deal to take the Norwegian to Elland Road this month.

However, Leeds have been worried about the interest from Crystal Palace, and those concerns are about to get real.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace have tabled an improved offer to take the forward to Selhurst Park before the end of the winter window.

Palace are set to lose to Jean-Philippe Mateta, and are keen to sign the Wolves striker as the Frenchman’s replacement before next week’s transfer deadline.

The new offer from Palace has shaken the saga again, and the club are now in talks with the striker and his representatives to finalise a deal for his transfer.

This is a real problem for Leeds, who were already finding it hard to cobble together the funds to sign the attacker in the winter window.

Losing out on the striker would be a huge embarrassment for the 49ers

Leeds have never tried to play down their interest in Strand Larsen since it emerged earlier in the window that they enquired to sign him.

Despite the competition for his signature and a proposed asking price of £40m, the Whites have been quietly confident of signing the Norwegian.

Leeds have been in talks with Wolves and are expected to table an improved bid for him before the end of the window. However, Palace’s interest is a problem.

With the way the Whites have approached the negotiations, it would be a major embarrassment if they now lose out on Strand Larsen to Palace.

Leeds hope that the striker’s willingness to move to Elland Road would end up being the decisive factor in the whole transfer saga.

49ers rubbish, if they offered what they wanted deal would have been done and dusted, no lets negotiate lower, allowing Palace to come in, also seem to have lost out on a defender as well? Same old 49ers, all talk no do! 🙈
