“Fearing” – TNT Sport pundit says Tottenham ‘lucky’ to beat ‘superb’ Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur were extremely lucky to leave Elland Road with three points in the bag after getting largely outplayed by Leeds United today. The home side deserved a draw, if not an outright win, from the fixture.

Thomas Frank painted a very different picture in his post-match assessment of his side’s 2-1 win at Elland Road, claiming that his Spurs were the better side and controlled the game against the Whites.

However, the numbers from the game told a very different story. Leeds dominated Spurs on all metrics except the most important one – the scoreline.

Tottenham had the last laugh as they left with all three points, but everyone is coming around to the fact that they were outplayed by a Leeds side that should be dejected by the defeat.

Tottenham were fearing Leeds – Joe Hart

Former Premier League winner Joe Hart insisted that it was clear who were the better team at the end as the Tottenham goalkeeper and the defenders were under immense pressure in the final moments.

He conceded that Leeds should be frustrated that they didn’t get anything from the game, as they played brilliantly and should be proud of the performance.

Hart said on TNT Sports: “I think the biggest compliment you can give to Leeds today is that a lot of the post-match analysis has been on the Tottenham goalkeeper.

“By the end, they had Spurs defending and fearing – they were throwing on big defenders, which just shows how much they were under the cosh.

“They will be frustrated to not have got anything from the game, but I think Leeds played superbly today, and they should be proud of that performance. In a way, Spurs were fortunate with the goals.”

Leeds now have a chance to reflect on the result in the next two weeks as several of their players leave for the international break.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United midfielders?
