Celtic star on Leeds United’s radar – He is affordable if the Whites get promoted

Leeds United are still some distance away from securing automatic promotion this season despite looking like the outstanding team in the Championship. However, their form and recent performances have led to premature talk of playing in the Premier League next season and what they would do in the summer to properly strengthen the squad for top-flight football. The Whites are staying focused on the job at hand but there are people inside Leeds who are now having discussions over targets for the summer. Leeds would need strengthening in every area of their squad to withstand the rigours of Premier League football and adding more guile and goals to the team is likely to be one of their biggest agendas.

Daniel Farke is almost certainly aware of the noise coming from the outside about impending Premier League football. He is trying to ensure that his players remain grounded and focused.

However, it would be gross negligence if the club’s recruitment team are not already shaping plans for the summer and what they would need to do in the market if they get promoted.

Leeds have already been linked with a move to several players and at least one of their rivals are worried about losing one of their top players to the lure of Elland Road in the next transfer window.

The Whites are also in the market for strikers but the club are expected to add to their stock of wingers in the summer given the need for quality across the board in every area of the squad.

Leeds are claimed to be looking at a player in Scotland and it seems he would be affordable if Leeds get Premier League football.

Fee and wage demands for the 17-goal winger are likely to be within the reach of Leeds United

Celtic signed Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna in January last year for a fee of £3m and it took a while for the winger to settle down in Scottish football.

However, he has really hit the ground running this season and has been one of the best players for the Scottish champions, scoring 17 times and registering 12 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Kuhn’s performances have led to interest from south of the border where several Premier League clubs are now believed to be interested in getting their hands on him.

Leeds are amongst the clubs who are keeping tabs on the winger and he has also emerged as a target for Newcastle United, Brighton and Brentford.

According to TEAMtalk, a transfer fee of around £26m could be enough to convince Celtic to sell the winger in the next transfer window.

The Scottish giants would prefer to hold on to him but they are a selling club and a fee of £26m would represent more than eight times the money they paid for him in January last year.

Kuhn’s wage demands are also unlikely to be huge given he is playing in Scotland and is not expected to be on a big salary package compared to Premier League wage structures.

Competition for his signing is fierce but he would be affordable to Leeds if they get promoted

Promotion to the Premier League would open up doors to huge funds in the summer that would help Leeds attract better players to Elland Road.

Leeds have to be wise in their spending and cannot afford to waste millions on inadequate players like they did ahead of their last season in the Premier League in 2022.

However, they would have to spend big dough if they want to bring in the quality needed to at least survive in the top flight in the first season, if not thrive.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United players?

Kuhn represents the kind of player Leeds should be able to attract in the summer if they get promoted and £26m in this day and age is nothing for a player coming to the Premier League.

His financial demands should also help the Whites to keep a check on their wage structure even though the salary bill would soar if Leeds are in the top flight.

Newcastle, Brentford and Brighton are well-established Premier League clubs but Leeds would at least have a decent chance of landing Kuhn given the numbers being discussed.
