Final nail in the coffin for £20m flop’s Leeds United career – it is justified

Daniel Farke managed to turn things around at Leeds United towards the end of last year. Before that, the team were in poor form with reports even linking the German with being sacked.

But Farke managed to turn things around; changing the normal shape and tactics of the team. His new 3-5-2 system saw him introduce some players to new roles. This saw the team manage to play some of their best football this season, getting huge results against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

So when January came about, many were expecting the Whites to splash the cash to give the team some more options to work with for the second half of the season.

Reports confirm £20m Leeds United star is gone this summer

Facundo Buonanotte was the only arrival in January; the player pushed for the move and the 49ers gave the green light. Many thought his transfer would be followed by the addition of a new center forward, but unfortunately Wolves did not agree with the financial structure for a potential Jorgen Strand Larsen move. The striker eventually joined Crystal Palace.

Buonanotte has not had a great start to life; outside two cameos off the bench, the midfielder has just had one start in the team. And in the FA Cup tie against Birmingham City, he was so bad he got subbed off at half time. Since then, he has struggled to even make the matchday squads under Daniel Farke in recent games.

Per reports, it looks very unlikely that Leeds will try and get a permanent move for Facundo Buonanotte this summer. And now, BBC Radio Leeds have also reported the Argentine will not remain at Elland Road this summer.

Facundo Buonanotte was a bad use of a January transfer

Nobody can really predict how transfers will go, but so far, Leeds United have not gotten the version of Facundo Buonanotte who was in demand this summer. He looks slow and lethargic on the pitch and has not been really able to affect games in his limited minutes. And it clearly looks like Daniel Farke is not a big fan, as he chose to leave him on the bench when Leeds were 3-0 up against Norwich this weekend. The 49ers had a chance to really improve the team for the run in and made the wrong transfer – hopefully it does not come back to bite the Whites.
