Firpo going nowhere – Phil Hay reports

Phil Hay reveals that despite there being interest, Leeds are not willing to let go of Junior Firpo anytime soon.

The left back joined the club from Barcelona in 2021 for a reported €15million and has struggled to make an impact. Firpo suffered a hamstring injury limiting him to just three games across all competitions this season.

Marsch asked for Maximilian Wober which has raised questions over the future of Firpo. Phil Hay says the fullback is not leaving soon:

“So, when it comes to Firpo, and there were a few reports this week about Real Betis liking him and [being] quite keen on taking him back, I’d be quite surprised if that happened but he definitely needs to find his niche.”

Firpo has only made a combined 20 starts in the league since arriving at Elland Road. The fullback has missed a lot of games through injury and fitness issues. His inconsistent performances led to Jesse Marsch dropping him from the starting XI, preferring to play others in his position.
