Major changes are expected as Leeds United prepare for life in the Premier League. The recruitment team have a huge task on their hands heading into the summer. The Whites are also expected to receive some financial boost in the transfer market.
Club chairman Paraag Marathe came out on Sunday to address the fans after Leeds won the Championship. In his speech, he confirmed to everyone that Daniel Farke will be the man to take the club forward. He also added that the club will spend this summer:
”…we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League.”
There will be new faces in the door at Elland Road, but there could be some potential exits. Illan Meslier has been linked with a move away after he lost his place as first choice keeper. There have also been rumours that Leeds are in the market for a striker, raising doubts around Joel Piroe.

Another surprising name to be linked with an exit is Brenden Aaronson. The attacking midfielder has done a great job alongside Piroe this season, but his place in the team is not guaranteed in the Premier League. The Athletic has hinted that Aaronson could be the first name out of the door in the summer, as Leeds could sign a new number 10.
Now, Paul Robinson has also voiced his opinion on the American, and his ability:
“Last time Leeds were in the Premier League, players struggled. They went up with a very similar squad and there’s players in that squad that struggled.” he told Football Insider.
“Pick two out that have been playing every week in the Championship, Junior Firpo and Brenden Aaronson. They were nowhere near Premier League level. They’re going to have to strengthen the squad and they’re going to have to strengthen the squad in certain areas very cleverly.”
Questions about Aaronson’s ability are valid
Leeds will need a more potent option up top in the Premier League. Aaronson has rightfully come under pressure this season for his role in the team. He has chipped in with nine league goals, but the other parts of his game are sorely lacking.

Daniel Farke plays him because of his defensive instincts and willingness to press. But in the Premier League, the club will need an attacking midfielder who can contribute. Just two assists and six expected assists are not good enough to translate to the top flight. Unless Aaronson steps up, his best role is as a squad player, similar to when he arrived at Elland Road.
