‘Fish out of water’- Danny mills takes aim at Leeds player

Leeds United’s humiliation at Old Trafford is a game many fans will hope to soon forget, but one Leeds player has felt the brunt of criticism from many for their performance last weekend and now Danny Mills has jumped in as well.

Robin Koch had a torrid time against Manchester United and could not contain Bruno Fernandes as the Portuguese midfielder scored a hattrick. The absence of Kalvin Phillips was evident and Mills commented that Koch didn’t look up to the job. “Koch was playing out of position and looked a little bit like a fish out of water at times against Bruno Fernandes.”

He pointed out the lack of protection from Koch led to a difficult afternoon for Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper, who were often overloaded on the counterattack. ”That puts more pressure on the back two when midfielders aren’t doing their job.” He went on to suggest that if Kalvin Phillips were to have started, the game would likely have gone very differently. “If you had Kalvin Phillips in front of them, it may well have been a different story.”

Leeds will hope that Phillips will be fit to face Everton this weekend in order to avoid a similar result to last weekends terrible day at Old Trafford.
