Five players who could leave Leeds United this summer

The transfer window is almost upon us, and speculation is running wild as to he comings and goings at every club.

Leeds fans are understandably excited for next season, with the right signings possibly opening the door to European football.

However, there is always the danger that some players could depart the club. Today, we’re looking at 5 players who could leave Leeds United this summer.

Gjanni Alioski

Alioski is the obvious pick with his contract expiring this summer. It remains to be seen as to whether he will sign a new contract or not, but the reality is that at 29 years old Alioski only has one more big contract left, and he may want to secure first team football and a bigger payday elsewhere. The Macedonian is a fan favourite at Elland Road, and they’ll be hoping he stays.

Helder Costa

Costa’s second season at Elland Road was interrupted by the acquisition of Raphinha which demoted him to the bench. Many have been underwhelmed by Costa’s performances since arriving at Elland Road for around £15 million. In his two seasons at the club he’s only managed seven goals and seven assists. If Leeds do want to challenge for Europe in the years to come, they need better depth on the wing than Helder Costa.

Tyler Roberts

Tyler Roberts has been a divisive point of discussion this season. He’s featured 27 times and only scored one goal whilst assisting two, sparking conversation as to whether he is good enough for the Premier League. At 22 years old, he has plenty of time to improve. However, he is into the final year of his contract which means Leeds have a big decision to make as to whether they offer the Wales international a new contract.

Raphinha

With 3 years left on his contract and Leeds having no reason to sell, it would take a huge offer for Leeds to consider selling Raphinha. However, Premier League clubs aren’t averse to spending fortunes, and Raphinha would be a safe investment. He’s 24 years old, has proved he can perform in the Premier League with six goals and nine assists this season, and simply has everything you’d want in a Premier League winger. Reports of Liverpool lining up a £32 million bid are laughable however, as you’d feel that number would need to be doubled for Leeds to even consider selling the Brazilian.

Kiko Casilla

The writing has been on the wall for Casilla since he got banned for allegedly racially abusing Charlton Athletic’s Jonathan Leko. Ilian Meslier stepped up in his absence and has looked like one of the most promising young players in world football ever since. Casilla is on big wages for someone who doesn’t play, and the only obstacle Leeds will face in attempting to offload the former Champions League winner will be if anybody really wants to take him.
