Forget all the noise – Pundit’s message to Leeds United ahead of Cardiff trip

Former Leeds United star Dominic Matteo has urged the Whites players to ignore the noise around the club and do a professional job against a struggling Cardiff City side on Saturday.

Leeds dropped to ninth in the Championship table following their 1-0 defeat at home against Burnley last weekend, which piled the pressure on the players.

There are question marks over Daniel Farke’s future at the club, but for now, he is set to be given more time to turn the results around in the coming weeks.

Leeds are under pressure following a slow start to the season. They have been widely tipped to be one of the automatic promotion contenders this season.

Their playoff final heartbreak last season means the club hierarchy are desperate to get back to the Premier League in the 2025/26 campaign.

Leeds are set to travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City this weekend and the game has a lot riding on it at this early stage of the season.

Dominic Matteo wants a professional Leeds United performance in Wales

Cardiff have made the worst start to their season in 35 years after picking up just one point in their opening five Championship games.

Manager Erol Bulut could be on the brink of getting sacked if his side lose on Saturday and there are signs of desperation around the club at the moment.

The noise around Leeds since the Burnley defeat has also been deafening but Matteo wants the players to focus on the game and their performance going into the weekend.

The former Leeds star wants them to produce a professional and confident performance against a struggling side and come back home with three points in their bag.

“We have got to forget all the noise and we have got to concentrate all that noise”, Matteo said on LUTV.

“I think the manager will be getting that across all the way through in training sessions leading up to his game.

“We have had an unlucky result against Burnley where we didn’t get the points but let’s make it right.

“Let’s go to Cardiff, go with confidence and some good energy and fans will be there waiting for us.

“We have to make sure we go there, do a professional job, get the points and get back home.”

Patrick Bamford is expected to return to the squad this weekend after missing the last three league games for Leeds.
