Leeds United boss Daniel Farke will no doubt have a lot address after the first three games of the campaign. The Whites have learnt a lot of things from each game.
The Everton game showed how good the team can be when everything is in full flow. The performance at Elland Road should have been rewarded with more goals. Against Arsenal, Leeds saw how easy it is to get punished for being sloppy. The quality at the Premier League level is unforgiving, and Daniel Farke’s side really gave away five goals to the Gunners.
Tuesday night’s shock defeat to Sheffield Wednesday shows that the team desperately need reinforcements in attack. Especially someone who can put the ball in the back of the net consistently. Leeds would not have gone to penalties if they finished off just one of the many chances late in the game.

While some believe Leeds need some quality additions up top, including Daniel Farke, others believe the solution has already been signed. Former England international Chris Powell is a big believer in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and thinks he will do well for Leeds. But he thinks the club just need to do one thing to allow him to thrive – give him more playing time.
“He’s a good signing for them.” Powell said after the game on Sky Sports.
“I think he’s a clever signing. Free transfer. But he needs to play regularly.
“At Everton, injuries, stop-start. I think it’ll be a good signing for them.”
This is a lot of belief in a player who was substituted on only to miss some of the biggest chances in the game at the death.
What did Daniel Farke think about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s performance?
The Leeds boss was surprisingly pleased with the display from the new signing. Farke said his cameo showed that he is good enough to get on the end of things in the box, but will need match sharpness to start scoring goals.
“He actually had 3 chances when he came on, you know, during the game I am happy he was getting those chances.
“It is his first minutes of the season and it was good to see him get in the right positions. We know Dominic will get sharper and will take these chances in the future.
“He is a fantastic striker and he is what we need up front, it is not always easy to come on the pitch and have chances come at you so quick but he has the ability to get in the right places.”
Calvert-Lewin could feature against Newcastle this weekend, after getting some minutes on Tuesday.
