Leeds United ended the season with a 3-0 defeat at West Ham. However, the result had little bearing for either team as the Hammers suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Valentin Castellanos, Jarrod Bowen and Callum Wilson were all on target as West Ham United signed off their disappointing season with a home win. However, victories elsewhere for Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the Hammers’ relegation despite the result.

Daniel Farke will feel his Leeds United side should have made more of their first-half chances, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin particularly criticised after missing a golden opportunity.

The Leeds players were not overly disappointed as they had achieved their goal for the season. However, there was one more former White who looked despondent at the end of the season.

Crysencio Summerville suffers relegation with West Ham

West Ham’s form saw an upturn earlier this year when Crysencio Summerville started looking like the player they signed from Leeds in 2024.

The Dutchman left Leeds once they failed to get promoted at the end of the 2023/24 season and thought he was moving on to bigger and better things.

However, he is now staring at playing in the Championship again next season while Leeds comfortably survived in the Premier League with games to spare.

Daniel Farke showed great compassion towards his former player and embraced him after the final whistle to show his sympathy towards him.

Not many Leeds fans will have any sympathy for a player whose dip in form towards the end of the 2023/24 season contributed to Leeds losing the playoff final.

He will probably leave West Ham in the summer as a few Premier League clubs are interested in getting their hands on him. However, he suffered the ultimate humiliation in front of the club he had left two years back.

Leeds must not re-sign him

There have been rumours of Leeds being interested in taking Summerville back to Elland Road in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Leeds need more creative and attacking threat in their team, and the Dutchman has proved himself in the Premier League, albeit for a relegated side.

However, Leeds must not go back for him as the supporters may not welcome back a player who left the club rather than stay and fight to earn promotion.

This is one side-show Leeds do not need next season and there are better players available in the market.
