Former Leeds United man urges club to make £50M ‘statement’ signing

This summer has seen a huge shake up in attack for Leeds United. The first signing that arrived at Elland Road this summer was Lukas Nmecha.

The German forward was brought in to provide depth and challenge Joel Piroe. Last season, Piroe featured in almost every league game for Leeds United. Because of the intensity at Premier League level, it would be almost impossible for him to start every game next season.

The club are also expecting some exits in the next few weeks. Patrick Bamford has been told he is not in Daniel Farke’s plans for next season, and could need to find a new club – with Wrexham interested. Mateo Joseph has also asked for a move away; he has not reported to training camp in Germany, and is in the UK hoping to resolve his future. Girona are keen on the 21-year old.

Paul Robinson tells Leeds United to sign Rodrigo Muniz

Former Leeds man Paul Robinson has urged the club to sign Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz. Leeds had a bid rejected earlier in the transfer window, but are still keen on a move. Robinson believes signing the Brazilian would be a huge statement:

“Yeah, he’s the type of player I’d like. He’s a top player, and that’s a signing that makes you stand up and take notice.” he told MOT Leeds News.

“That’s a player who you look at and you go, yeah, he could score between 12 and 15 goals, maybe more, if given the service and keep Leeds in the Premier League.

“Muniz is a Premier League-proven player, and he’s the player that would strengthen Leeds without a shadow of a doubt. And he’s a player who could quickly become a fan’s favourite if he started scoring goals.

“None of the signings so far jump off the page and go, wow, what a player that’s going to be for us. However, with Muniz, you go, yeah, do you know what? That’s a real player. He could make a difference.”

Leeds identify new target

The Whites have now been linked with a move to AS Roma star Artem Dovbyk. The Ukrainian is expected to be out of favour heading into next season, especially with the arrival of Evan Ferguson from Brighton.

Roma are open to selling the 28-year old, who would be available for around £30million.

Club might need to consider Artem Dovbyk

The Ukrainian should be considered as a serious option for Leeds United. He would cost less than the £50million Fulham are reportedly demanding. Last season, Dovbyk scored 12 goals despite being in poor form. He also has more experience at the top level than Rodrigo Muniz.
