Former Leeds United star thinks Daniel Farke should persist player who was ”shocking” vs Fulham

Leeds United have a lot of things to work on ahead of this weekend when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers. Fans will be hoping this game will end better than what happened against Fulham.

It took a late own goal from Gabriel Gudmundsson for Marco Silva’s side to take all three points. Leeds are still winless on the road in all competitions this season ahead of their visit to the Molineux. Wolves and Vitor Pereira are looking for their first win of the Premier League season this Saturday.

Daniel Farke will be buoyed by the return of Joel Piroe and Ao Tanaka, with both players in contention to make the starting line up.

Aidy White thinks Brenden Aaronson should keep his place vs Wolves

Leeds lined up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Brenden Aaronson as the front three against Fulham. The trio did not really work out, but they had their moments. The Whites are still searching for an open play goal in the league, having only scored from the penalty spot this season.

Former Leeds man Aidy White thinks Brenden Aaronson should retain his place in the lineup for the Wolves game:

“In terms of personnel, I think Aaronson for Willy Gnonto.” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I’d leave Okafor in there because he looks like the more minutes, the stronger he will get. Same with Calvert-Lewin, he’s going to be our main striker.

“He has got things other than goal contributions, hold-up play, other factors. If we can get good delivery from wide areas, he will score,”

Aaronson did not offer much on the pitch during his 90minutes, but did create one big chance the team failed to convert.

Why Daniel Farke started Leeds star vs Fulham

In Thursday’s press conference, Farke revealed that the only reason the American was in the lineup against Fulham was for defensive reasons. He did really good work off the ball and got stuck in when needed.

“I didn’t expect Brenden to cut Fulham apart on his own, Fulham had an aggressive left side and I wanted a player to support our right-back.

“Credit to Brenden, Sessegnon was not effective and Iwobi was substituted.”

With Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto as doubts for Saturday, we could see Aaronson keep his place in the team.

There is no justification for playing him and doing so will cost us points and Farke his job.
