Leeds United have had a mixed pre-season so far. When it comes to transfers, the recruitment team have done a good job bringing in players the club needs.

On the flip side, the Whites still need to offload some names this summer. The squad is huge, and even though Daniel Farke has made his decision with respect to some players, the unwanted first team stars are still at the club.

Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are training and playing friendlies with the U21s as no valid offers have come in for either player.

What Jamie Carragher has said about Leeds United

When it comes to the newly promoted teams this season, former Premier League star Jamie Carragher is not really optimistic. Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley are the new boys this campaign, and Carragher believes they really have to put up a fight to stay up.

“The last couple of years in the Premier League, the teams that have come up have found it really tough. It’s almost felt like to me, a 17-team Premier League. It’s really important they make a good go of it.” he said speaking on the Overlap.

After the last friendly against Villarreal, Daniel Farke made the brutal admission that his side may not be ready for the Premier League. He was specific and focused on the fact that the attacking edge has just not been at the level he wants.

“We know that even in comparison to our Championship offence you could say that we are not much improved.

“We know in the offence we are not ready for Premier League level. We’ve proven we can be ready for one game and for that I am not too concerned at the moment as it stands.

“I know especially with the offence, in the last bit you can add some quality. Of course as a manager you want all the players available on the first day of pre-season and to have training sessions with them because they need to adapt to the group and the principles.

This comes after Leeds failed to sign key targets in attack, including Igor Paixao. Graham Smyth recently revealed that the club also missed out on signing Ritsu Doan, who is set to play Champions League football next season.

Are Leeds ready for the Premier League?

Preparations have been decent, but the recent developments have not helped. Players getting injured so close to the season, and others yet to leave the club has caused all sorts of problems.

Leeds need one or two attacking signings to be sure of their place in the competition next season.
