Leeds United fans can be really emotional when it comes to players and managers. One week, they will love you, the next week they want you out of the club.
There have been several examples of players that have seen the fanbase switch on them at Elland Road. Jack Harrison is currently one of them; the winger is one of the most polarizing players in the club’s recent history.
Just a few years back he was starring under Bielsa, was a fan favourite in the team and was even tipped for an England call up. Fans lost patience with him when he jumped ship when Leeds got relegated in 2023; he spent two straight seasons out on loan at Everton, and barely had a good word to say about his old fan base.
Former Manchester United star praises Brenden Aaronson
Brenden Aaronson has faced similar treatment by the fanbase. He arrived for big money, but struggled early in his career. The midfielder left on loan when Leeds were relegated, and a year later was handed a lifeline by Daniel Farke who integrated him into the first team.
Aaronson has since become a very useful player for the club, featuring in a variety of tactical roles. Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard is impressed with how the 25-year old has turned things around in his short career:
“The crowd at Elland Road had turned on him, and they had kind been to the manager like, oi, get this guy the hook, why is he still on, and the manager persisted with him so that’s a hard thing to do, so I give him a ton of credit. When your home crowd makes up their mind about you, it’s hard to get them back on side, and he did that.”
“I also know the crowd at Elland Road because I’ve been there and you get pelters.”
Aaronson has played a key role this season
Some fans may not like it, but Brenden Aaronson has been decent this season. He has been diligent on and off the ball regardless of the position he has been played in the first team. Daniel Farke has now found a new role in the 3-5-2 system which has brought the best out of him in recent games.

If he continues to produce in front of goal like he currently is, Leeds will benefit greatly in their fight for survival.
