Leeds United are still reeling from the loss to Fulham over the weekend. The game was really in their grasp, but they eventually let it slip and lost another game on the road.
For the first hour of the game, Leeds had a semblance of control and dominance. Daniel Farke’s side even had some of the best chances in the game with Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing a big chance, and Sean Longstaff’s effort clipping the crossbar. Marco Silva’s side were under pressure early in the second half until he looked to the bench to make changes.
Farke failed to respond to Fulham’s adjustments and it came back to bite them late in the game. Leeds lost the match in injury time after Gabriel Gudmundsson headed the ball into his own net.

Ben Foster singles out Karl Darlow for Fulham game

It was a stale performance all round from the Leeds players, with Daniel Farke taking a lot of blame from the game. But one player left the game with his reputation intact. Karl Darlow, standing in for the injured Lucas Perri, made some outstanding saves to keep the scoreline level. It was not his fault that his teammate headed the ball into his net in the dying minutes.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has praised the Welsh stopper for his performance over the weekend. Foster believes Darlow did not deserve to concede the goal at the end due to his performance.
“Karl Darlow came in for Leeds. Obviously, there’s a goalie there [Lucas Perri]. He hasn’t had a great start, to be honest with you.” he said on Fozzcast.
“I was actually doing a bit of a run on Thursday, we did a half-marathon through Birmingham, and I was running with a Leeds fan, a big Leeds fan, and he said, I think Karl’s going to start on Saturday. I haven’t been impressed with our goalie so far; he just looks a bit shaky and uncertain.
“So Karl came in, obviously they’ve lost the game 1 -0, it’s a brutal way to lose as well. It’s a brutal way to lose. The header from Gudmundsson and I feel for him so badly.
“94th minute as well, out of nothing, out of absolutely nothing. He made a worldie! Top hand. It’s just a brutal way to lose.”
Leeds United record signing has some serious competition
Daniel Farke is not one to not factor in performances. At the end of last season he took the bold decision to bench his first choice for Darlow on the way to winning the league. Perri is injured, but if his return continues the shaky form he had in the previous games, the Brazilian could find himself out of the first team for some games.
Farke failed to adjust? I was a friggin own goal that did us. It happens. Nothing to do with Farke. Get yourself a job you may be good at
