Paul Robinson has sniped at Jamie O’Hara for his criticism of Tottenham Hotspur signing a ‘Championship player’ in Archie Gray from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.
O’Hara has been criticising Tottenham since their timid 1-0 defeat at home against Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday.
The former Spurs star has criticised the North London club for the kind of players they signed in the summer transfer window, who he feels are not good enough.
He particularly picked out Tottenham’s decision to sign Gray from Leeds and stressed that the teenager is nothing more than a Championship player at the moment.
O’Hara’s tirade has angered Leeds fans who cherish the young midfielder and were left disappointed by the club’s decision to sell him, which more or less saved them from breaching PSR guidelines.
Robinson has also not taken the former Spurs star’s criticism well and termed him a ‘clown’ for what he said.
Paul Robinson stressed that even he was a Championship player when Tottenham signed him from Leeds United
The former goalkeeper insisted that O’Hara should be more careful about what he said and look back to check the players Tottenham signed previously.
Robinson pointed out that he was in the Championship when Tottenham signed him from Leeds and it was the same when Aaron Lennon moved to north London.
He does believe that it was more of an ‘off-the-cuff rant’ from O’Hara than what he truly believes in.
“Clown. It’s not his finest moment and I think he’s been reminded of that”, Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“I can put myself in that category because I was signed from Leeds in the Championship, and a year after, Aaron Lennon was exactly the same.
“He didn’t cover himself in glory but I think it was just an off-the-cuff rant.”
Gray has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League thus far since joining Tottenham from Leeds in the summer.
