Former White feels ‘ready’ to earn a windfall of cash for Leeds United

Leeds United had to make some tough decisions last summer after they failed to earn promotion to the Premier League. A slew of top players left the club and the Whites had to deal with the pain of rebuilding the squad.

Daniel Farke and his team have done well this season to pick themselves and again chase automatic promotion. They are sitting third in the table and are one of the strongest favourites to be in the top two at the end of the campaign.

Crysencio Summerville was one of the players who decided to move on from Leeds last summer following their defeat in the playoff final against Southampton.

Leeds expected his departure and despite interest from other bigger clubs, the Dutchman decided to take up the offer from West Ham in the last transfer window.

West Ham forked out an initial fee of £25m to sign him but the final fee could touch the £34m if the £9m add-ons get triggered over the course of his stay at London Stadium.

Summerville’s ambition will net Leeds more money from West Ham

The two clubs worked out a deal that would see West Ham pay another £5m if the Dutchman achieves certain figures in terms of appearances and performances.

However, Leeds would be due a cool £4m the moment Summerville earns his first senior cap for the Netherlands on the international stage.

The winger has yet to play for the Oranje but has the clear ambition of representing his country on the big stage.

Summerville stressed that his reward will follow if he continues to perform at the top level.

He stressed that he has yet to speak with Ronald Koeman but insisted that he feels ready to step up if the Netherlands head coach believes he wants to call him up to the senior squad.

Speaking to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, the winger said:  “I haven’t spoken to Koeman yet.

“If the national coach thinks I’m ready, I’ll be ready. Actually, I’m always ready.

“If I can show everyone my magic, I’m at my best. I have to keep doing that, then the rest will follow automatically.”

Leeds hope that the Netherlands head coach notices Summerville soon and gets him his first cap as it would be a financial boost for their coffers.
