Frank Lampard shares honest thoughts on losing out to Daniel Farke – The Leeds manager is miles better than him

Leeds United beat an in-form Coventry City team away from home comfortably last month when Frank Lampard’s men were in a terrific run of form. However, Lampard’s team have recovered since then and are sitting fifth in the table. The Coventry boss also missed out on the Manager of the Month accolade to Daniel Farke for the month of February.

Lampard deserves immense credit for turning around a Coventry side who were hovering just above the relegation zone when he took charge of the team and making them into promotion contenders.

It has been a remarkable turn of fortunes for Lampard’s side over the last few months and they are now favourites to finish in the playoff spots at the end of the season.

Many felt the former Chelsea midfielder could be named Manager of the Month for February because of his side’s performance but Farke’s Leeds team were better and the German won the accolade.

‘I like Daniel Farke and I am not bothered about losing out on the award’ – Frank Lampard

Lampard has earned immense credit for what he has done at Coventry since taking charge of the club in the middle of the season and them getting promoted would be a remarkable story.

However, they were soundly beaten by Leeds last month and Lampard insisted that he has immense respect for Daniel Farke and for what he has done at Elland Road this season.

He stressed that he is not too bothered about missing out on the Manager of the Month award. The Coventry boss stressed that it is a nice accolade but not winning it didn’t really sour his day in any way as his focus is on getting his team to move forward.

“Well done to Daniel. I really like Daniel. He’s one of the most friendliest and accommodating managers when you go against him, other than the fact he’s got a great team at the minute that beat us pretty well in our game. But he is a gentleman and fair play to him, he deserves it”, Lampard was quoted as saying by the Coventry Telegraph.

“Those things are nice, you know, and can mean incredible amounts but what means the most for me is us winning and trying to get better and improving.

“Those things are great and when you get them they’re a nice touch, for sure, and I’m absolutely not putting them down. But not winning that award isn’t going to not make my day.

“It’s not a problem for me. I want to just continue working and I know Daniel’s record last month and for months has been really good. So he’s a good winner.”

Farke has been a better manager than Lampard

Lampard has had a disappointing managerial career and is looking to rebuild his reputation at Coventry while Farke has been a proven winner at least at the Championship level.

The former midfielder failed to get promoted with Derby when he had one of the biggest budgets in the Championship and then failed at multiple jobs in the Premier League.

Farke got promoted with Norwich twice and if not for a freak season, he would have got Leeds to the Premier League as well last season.

At this stage, he and his Leeds side are on course to getting promoted back to the Premier League while Lampard will again have to slog it out in the playoffs.

It is nice he is not salty about losing out to Farke on the award as he is even aware the German has been a far better manager at this level than him.
