Fresh twist in Jack Harrison saga as his future could still be at Elland Road – Former Leeds United star urges Whites to keep him

Jack Harrison is looking at an uncertain future with Everton expected not to take up the option of signing the Leeds United winger on a permanent deal. He has been poor this season and his performances have not been good enough to convince the Everton hierarchy. David Moyes is expected to invest in wingers in the summer but Harrison is the player he is not interested in holding on to. He is also a player who is not welcome at Leeds given the way he left the club on loan following their relegation in 2023. However, Harrison scored his first goal of the season this weekend in Everton’s 1-1 draw against Wolves. Whether that goal changes anything remains to be seen but Leeds have been urged to find a way to welcome him back in the summer.

Harrison has been at Everton on loan since the summer of 2023 when he decided to move on from Leeds following their relegation from the Premier League.

He has shown little inclination to return to Leeds and has always been pushing for a permanent move to Everton but that is unlikely to happen in the summer.

Leeds are pushing to get promoted to the Premier League and there are suggestions if the Whites get back to the top flight, they could find a way to reintegrate the winger back into the squad.

However, it would be a hugely unpopular decision as the Leeds fans have never forgiven the player for ditching Elland Road the moment the club got relegated from the Premier League.

Harrison has also not shown any signs that he could be interested in returning to Leeds while he has been at Everton, but that could be his best option in the summer.

Former Leeds United star insists Jack Harrison could be a useful option for the Whites

Jack Harrison has been linked with a move to the MLS where an unnamed club have held initial talks with the player’s representatives over a summer move.

However, it has been suggested that the winger’s wage demands could be a major roadblock for any deal and a return to Leeds seems to be on the cards for the winger this summer.

He is persona non-grata for Leeds fans, but it seems, the two sides could be forced to find a compromise to exist together if another solution is not found.

Former Leeds star, David Prutton, stressed that the winger could be a useful and experienced option for the Whites, especially if they get promoted to the Premier League.

He believes Harrison’s willingness to graft could be a good addition to the Leeds squad and pointed out that the winger was a popular member of the squad previously.

“I think what he would do if he came back to Leeds and was part of it, (he) would be a useful, experienced option in a squad that would need to strengthen”, Prutton told the Football League World.

“I think, given what Leeds could potentially throw forward on either side of the pitch with the players they’ve got, Jack’s a bit more workmanlike, and I mean that in the most respectful way, given how good he is, and what a good member of the squad he is.

“He seems to be a very well-liked part of what Leeds United has been in the past.”

Can Leeds fans welcome back Harrison?

Relegation from the Premier League in 2023 led to an exodus from Leeds with several players taking up the option of leaving the club on loan as per a clause in their contract.

Harrison is one of those who moved on and Leeds fans failed to forgive any of the players who got the team relegated but shied away from the responsibility of trying to get them back to the top flight.

Brenden Aaronson has worked his socks off this season but he is yet to win back all the Leeds fans as he spent last season on loan at Union Berlin.

The winger signed a new contract just months before he moved on from Leeds and has shown little inclination in ever considering returning to Elland Road.

However, circumstances could force him back into Leeds in the summer and for the moment, the fans seem unwilling to welcome the winger back.

But if Leeds and Harrison are forced to exist together, the supporters will have to find a way to forget his previous decision and back him if he wears the White shirt again.
