Gabby Agbonlahor gives shocking Leeds United relegation verdict – surprises everyone

Leeds United have completed a stunning turnaround in their fortunes since the international break. After losing to Nottingham Forest, everything looked like it was falling apart.

Daniel Farke was even predicted to lose his job in early December, with multiple names lined up to take over the Leeds job. But things have changed over the past few weeks, with the team continually growing and subverting expectations. It took painful defeats to Aston Villa and Manchester City, but the Whites have sprung into life over the last few games.

Farke’s tactical tweet in the second half at the Etihad nearly stole a point from Pep Guardiola’s men. So he switched to the new 3-5-2 system against Chelsea and it worked like a charm. The home side beat Chelsea emphatically, and gave them a huge morale boost before they face Liverpool. The Reds nearly gave them a scare at Elland Road on Saturday, but Leeds came from behind twice, and Ao Tanaka popped up with a late equalizer to seal a 3-3 draw.

Gabby Agbonlahor speaks on Leeds United chances of survival

Now it seems like the fortunes around the club are heading in a positive direction; news about Farke’s future has died down and the club now have an ”easier” fixture list getting towards the end of the year. The Whites currently sit two points above the relegation zone, but everyone expects them to be in the battle as the season goes on.

Gabby Agbonlahor has been speaking with Jeff Stelling about Leeds potentially getting relegated, on TalkSport. According to him, he has changed his mind on Daniel Farke and the club, and believes they can edge West Ham in the race for survival:

“The players are with [Farke], the players are listening to him, their new tactics.

So, Daniel Farke has done fantastically, and the talk of him losing his job is long gone.

Stelling added: “So I’m going to put my neck on the line and say for me, Leeds stay up.”

Agbonlahor then said the Hammers will be the team to go down this year: “I am. I’m going to say West Ham go down.”

Leeds can survive this year if they play their cards right

There is every chance the Whites survive relegation. But it will take all hands on deck, from the players continuing their form and Daniel Farke finding new solutions. With January around the corner, the owners must show their ambition and spend some cash to strengthen the squad.

Home form will also be important from now till the end of the season; pulling off key results this week against Liverpool and Chelsea has shown just how important Elland Road will be this year.
