Gary Lineker points out Leeds United advantage over Sheffield United and Burnley – It’s one silver lining for Leeds

Leeds United are fighting a feeling of doom and gloom after the 2-2 draw against Swansea at Elland Road on Saturday. They have dropped down to second in the table and are now level on points with Burnley, who are third in the Championship. However, Gary Lineker is insistent that the Whites still have some small advantage over their rivals.

Daniel Farke has asked his Leeds United players to go and get some rest, both physically and mentally, ahead of the Luton Town game on Saturday.

However, the Leeds supporters are on the edge as their side appear to be imploding at the business end of the season for the second year running in the automatic promotion race.

Leeds have seven games to ensure they get the job done, and Lineker stressed the Yorkshire giants still have one thing going in their favour ahead of Sheffield United and Burnley.

Gary Lineker sees one advantage for Leeds United still

Leeds will prepare for the big game against Luton Town away from home on Saturday, but their recent form has been poor compared to what Sheffield United and Burnley have done.

Lineker conceded that a few weeks back Leeds were looking nailed-on to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League, but have imploded in recent games.

However, he insisted that the fact that Burnley and Sheffield United will still play each other once more is a big advantage for Leeds in the run-in.

“I thought Leeds were going to cruise through”, Lineker said on the Rest is Football Podcast.

“One thing in Leeds’ favour is that Burnley play Sheffield United in about three or four weeks on 21st April.

“That will be a huge game.”

Farke needs to pick his players up

It is clear the Leeds players are feeling the pressure, as it is difficult to explain some of their recent performances against teams they should be beating.

Last season’s implosion has further piled on the pressure, and they are getting constantly reminded that they could do the same this year if they are not careful.

Can you name the Leeds game these 10 goal celebrations are from?

Daniel Farke needs to bring in a few changes to break the cycle, but he also needs to find a way to ease some of the pressure on the players ahead of the remaining seven games.

The Leeds boss appears to be bullish about his team’s promotion chances after the Swansea game, and he needs to ensure his team exude the same confidence against Luton on Saturday.
