It comes as no surprise to Leeds fans that the wider football world have began to take notice of Kalvin Phillips. The Leeds lad starred for England during the Euros in the summer as they made it to the final.
But the England player of the year now has a brand new admirer in the form of Gary Neville, who couldn’t praise Phillips enough. ‘He runs, he tackles, he passes, he can defend, honestly, he’s fantastic. He’s likeable, he has integrity when he speaks, you like watching him. He runs all day, the stats we see that he produces, the most pressures, he’s a dream.’
It’s clear Neville really rates Phillips for his ability on the ball but also his work rate off it, but the praise didn’t end there for the 25 year old. “he’s now the best English midfielder there is, by far”. So not only does Neville feel Phillip is the best midfielder England have, he actually thinks that it isn’t particularly close either.
